Account Setup

An overview of the initial steps for setting up your MatBoss account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover the setup of your MatBoss account.

To get started with MatBoss, visit matboss.com and click the "Buy MatBoss" button which will bring you to the MatBoss subscription options.

Select from the two subscription types: the VideoStats subscription for $599 or the Stats-Only subscription.

We'll begin by collecting basic information about you and your wrestling team.

Enter your first and last name.

Now, enter your role on the team.

You can also use the "Other" option for any role not listed in the dropdown.

Enter the primary email address that you would like to associate with your MatBoss account.

Enter a valid phone number.

Select your team's level from the list of options and select the state where your team competes.

Choose your team from the list of schools and clubs associated with your state. Please note that this list is based on data from TrackWrestling.

Accept the MatBoss Terms and Conditions and click the Register button to proceed to the next step.

Now open the welcome email you received and click the Get Started button to set up your account for the upcoming season.

After clicking on the Get Started button, you will be taken to the Account Setup Wizard. Begin by confirming that the auto-populated information displayed is correct. 

Create a password and document it in a safe place. You will use this password along with the primary email address you provided to access your MatBoss account moving forward.

Click Continue to proceed to the next step.

From the Organization Information screen, show your team pride by uploading your logo in any web-friendly format such as .jpg or .png.

This can also be completed later in your account settings if you don't have access to your logo right now.

Next, select your primary and secondary team colors from the color-picker provided.

Click Continue to confirm.

The Setup Wizard allows you to integrate your account with TrackWrestling. Typically, at this point in the season, events and rosters are not yet available in the TrackWrestling system. You can connect your account to TrackWrestling at a later time, which is demonstrated in a separate video. So for this initial setup click the No button to proceed.

Now you will have the ability to configure your team scorebooks.

MatBoss provides three primary scorebooks along with an additional Practice scorebook which can be used for wrestle-offs or capturing exhibition matches.

MatBoss scorebooks are built with standardized weight classes based on the level of your team.

You have the ability to add or remove weights based on state-specific weight classes.

You can also rename your scorebooks to customize them for your team's specific needs.

When finished, click the Complete Setup button.

You have finished setting up your account via the MatBoss Setup Wizard. Click the Continue to MatBoss button to access your online account.

Adding a Sketch to a Video

How to markup MatBoss videos with sketch tools for athlete review.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will review how to add sketches and coaching tips overlayed on a video.

From the video viewer screen, begin by clicking the plus icon in the upper right hand corner of the window.

Select "New Sketch" from the dropdown.

Within the popup, add shapes like circles and arrows, text, and freehand drawings on top of the video.

Additionally, add notes to coincide with your illustrations to highlight tips and instructions for your athlete.

Click "Save Sketch" to confirm.

During video review, your sketches and notes will now be available within the given video segment.

3 - Post-Event Management

Adding an External Video

How to upload an external video (not recorded through the MatBoss app) to your account. 

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will review the process for adding an external video to your MatBoss account.

From the Scorebook, click on the "Event Details" button.

In the upper right hand corner of the Scorebook screen, click the "Add a Match" link.

In the "Add Match" pop up window, enter the date, weight class, and wrestler names in the appropriate fields.

Click the "Save" button to confirm.

Locate the desired match video and drag it onto the window or click the yellow button to select it from the file system on your computer.

Once you have selected the desired video, click the "Begin Upload" button to proceed.

Notice that the externally recorded match has been successfully uploaded to MatBoss. You are now ready to score and mark this video.

To begin adding scoring events to this match, click on the plus icon in the upper right hand corner of the window.

Select "New Scoring Event" from the dropdown.

From the pop up, add the relevant details for the scoring event.

Click "Save" to confirm.

Notice that the new scoring event has been added to your match. Continue to add events in the same manner in order to complete the scoring process for this match.

Adding and Ordering Highlights

How to add and organize highlight clips within your MatBoss account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, we'll demonstrate how to add and order highlight clips within your account.

MatBoss makes it easy to collect highlight clips from your match videos. To begin, open an existing video within your MatBoss account via the "Watch Edit" button.

From within the video, click the plus icon in the upper right hand corner of the video window.

Select "New Highlight" from the drop down menu.


Next, enter a description, move, and start and end times in the appropriate fields.

Click "Save Highlight" to confirm. Continue the process of selecting all of your clips before submitting your highlight order.

Once you have selected all of your clips for a given order, click the "Back" button.

Once you have selected all of your clips for a given order, click the "Highlights" tab from your MatBoss dashboard.

From the "Highlights" screen, select the highlights that you would like to include in your highlight-clip order.

Finally, click the "Submit Clip Order" button to complete the process. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email with a link to download your selected collection of highlight clips. You can repeat this process as many times as you wish throughout the wrestling season.


Deleting a Match from an Event

How to delete a match from an event within MatBoss.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, we'll discuss deleting a match from an event.

From the Scorebook, select the event that contains a match that you would like to delete.

From the Event Details, find the match from within the event and click "Edit."

On the "Edit Match" popup, click the red "Delete-Match" button.

Finally, confirm that you wish to delete this match.

Your desired match has now been deleted from the event.

Editing a Match from Your Online Account

How to edit existing matches from your online account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, you will learn how to edit an existing match from your online account.

On the Event Details screen, identify the match that you wish to edit.

Click the video thumbnail to proceed with the editing process.

In order to edit a wrestler, click on that wrestler's name in the lower left hand corner of the window.

Change the wrestler, or the wrestler's color from the pop up window.

Click "Save Changes" to confirm.

You may also edit a scoring event by clicking the pencil icon on that scoring event  in the video timeline.

From the pop up window, edit the relevant details related to the scoring event.

Click "Save Changes" to confirm.

Your new scoring event has now been updated within the match.


Editing Match Information from the App

How to edit match information directly from the MatBoss app.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, we will discuss editing match information from the MatBoss app. 

MatBoss provides the ability to modify wrestler and match scoring data from the device after a match has been recorded. 

From the Events screen, you can update wrestler information by touching the edit icon and modifying details like wrestler names and colors in the popup window.

Scoring events can also be modified by touching the edit icon next to a specific scoring event and making your desired changes in the resulting popup window.

New scoring events can also be added to the match by touching the "plus" icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. In this example, a "Warning for Stalling" event has been added for the red wrestler at eleven seconds into the match recording.

2 - Event Setup/Capture/Upload

Event Setup

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we'll cover how to set up an event for recording. Please note, it is important to ensure that your devices are fully charged and you have ample storage space available before arriving at the event.

From the Events tab on your recording device, you can see your upcoming, previous or all events in this view. You can also switch Scorebooks via the drop-down at the top of the window.

Click into the event that you are preparing for. Select the edit icon to add the opposing team's roster from TrackWrestling. Touch the "Select from TrackWrestling" button to find and select the team that you are competing against and touch "Save" to confirm. Next, touch "Add Matches" to add specific bouts within this event and touch "Add" to confirm. Based on the event you select, MatBoss will pre-build all matches for your event.

To change wrestlers before recording, you can do so from the event screen. Simply touch the "Edit" icon in the lower right hand corner of each match. Edit the wrestler details via the popup displayed for each match.

You are now ready to begin recording. Touch the record match link below the bout you would like to record and you will be taken to the recording screen. Detailed instructions for recording and scoring a match are covered in a separate video.

Forfeits

How to record forfeits during a dual meet.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate how to record a forfeit during a dual meet. Please note, each MatBoss roster is pre-loaded with a roster spot designated for forfeits.

From the Event screen, select the wrestler that you will be marking as a forfeit. Select the Forfeit Match slider and touch Save to confirm. 

You can see that the forfeit has been recorded and the team score has been updated by six points to reflect that a match has been completed with a Forfeit result. 

If both teams are forfeiting, mark both wrestlers as forfeited and the team scores will be updated accordingly.

Generating Reports

How to generate detailed MatBoss reports for team and individual performance analysis.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to take advantage of the full suite of detailed MatBoss team and individual reports for analyzing performance and informing coaching insights.

To begin, click on the "Reports" tab from your MatBoss dashboard.

You can generate reports based on year, level, and time period.

Notice that MatBoss has pre-built team, event, and individual reports while also providing the ability to build custom reports or track cumulative records.

In this example, we will generate a "Team Analysis" report.

Simply select "Team Analysis" and click the "Generate Report" button.

The Team Analysis report has been generated based on the year, level, and time period selected. You may download or email the report once it has been generated.

To generate an individual report, click the "Individual" tab. 

Next, select a wrestler

Choose the report that you would like to generate

And click the "Generate Report" button to confirm.

You can also create custom reports by clicking the "Custom" tab.

Next, simply select the metrics that you would like included in the report.

Click "Generate Report" to confirm.

Click the "Cumulative" tab to generate reports on data such as, in-season leaderboards, or career records.

Next, select your desired criteria.

Click "Generate Report" to confirm.

Import Your Roster from TrackWrestling

How to import your roster from TrackWrestling to your MatBoss account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover importing your roster from Track Wrestling. Please note that your roster must be added to TrackWrestling prior to beginning this step in MatBoss.

Begin by logging in to your MatBoss account.

Once you're logged in, select the settings button in the upper righthand corner of the screen.

On the Settings page, locate the TrackWrestling Settings button and click it.

Select your state, age level and team from the appropriate drop-down lists.

If your team name is not listed, it has not been set up in TrackWrestling yet.

Please complete that step in TrackWrestling before linking your account to MatBoss. Click the "Save Changes" button to confirm.

Now click "Roster" from the top navigation.

From the Roster screen, click on the TrackWrestling link.

Your roster from TrackWrestling will now be available.

Review each of your wrestlers and match them up with an existing profile or add them as a new wrestler.

You can also choose not to import a wrestler if they are no longer on your team.

As the final step in this process, you may select wrestlers who have graduated and move them to "Former Wrestler" status.

Once you have completed this review, click the "Import" button.

Your roster has now been successfully imported from TrackWrestling. You can perform this step again at any time if your TrackWrestling roster changes throughout the season.

Import Your Schedule from TrackWrestling

How to import your schedule from TrackWrestling to your MatBoss account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover how to import your schedule from TrackWrestling. Please note that your schedule must be added to TrackWrestling prior to beginning this step in MatBoss.

Begin by logging in to your MatBoss account.

Once you're logged in, select the settings button in the upper righthand corner of the screen.

On the Settings page, locate the TrackWrestling Settings button and click it.

Select or confirm your state, age level and team from the appropriate drop-down lists.

If your team name is not listed, it has not been set up in TrackWrestling yet. Please complete that step in TrackWrestling before linking your account to MatBoss. Click the "Save Changes" button to confirm.

Now click "Scorebook" from the top navigation.

From the Scorebook screen, click on the TrackWrestling link.

Your schedule from TrackWrestling will now be available.

You can deselect any events from the event list that you do not wish to import to your MatBoss scorebook. 

Click the "Import" button and you will be taken to the Scorebook page where your events will be loaded into MatBoss. You can perform this step again at any time if your TrackWrestling schedule changes throughout the season.

You can now see that all of your events from TrackWrestling are available in your scorebook.

Installing MatBoss on Your Devices

How to download and install MatBoss on your tablets and handsets.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will demonstrate how to install MatBoss on your devices including iOS iPads and iPhones and Android tablets and phones.

Touch the App Store icon to open the App Store app.

Touch the primary search bar at the top of the screen and search for "MatBoss."

Touch the "Install" icon next to the search result that simply reads "MatBoss." Please ensure that you are installing the most current version of the MatBoss app and not the app named "MB Classic." "MB Classic" is a legacy version of MatBoss that is phasing out.

Touch the "Open" button and log in to MatBoss with your account credentials.

Inviting Wrestlers

How to invite wrestlers and coaches to create their own profiles within your MatBoss account for viewing video and stats.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, you will learn how to invite wrestlers and coaches to create a profile within your MatBoss account.

To begin, ensure that your roster is loaded into your MatBoss account. 

Click the "Settings" button at the top of your dashboard screen.

From the Settings page, scroll down and click on the "Organization Members" button.

The Organization Members page displays all active accounts and pending invites.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Invite New Member."

This is where you will invite other coaches or athletes to create a profile for viewing their video and stats within the MatBoss system.

From the "Profile Type" dropdown, select "Wrestler"

Choose a wrestler from your roster and then add their email address in the appropriate field.

Click "Save" to confirm.

Your athlete will now receive an email invitation to create their profile, which they can use to access their video and stats.


Manual Roster Setup (For Teams Not Using TrackWrestling)

How to manually set up your roster if your team is not using TrackWrestling.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover how to manually set up your roster if your team is not using TrackWrestling.

To begin, click on "Roster" in the main navigation of your MatBoss dashboard.

Click the "Add Wrestler" button at the bottom of the Roster page.

From the "Add-Wrestler" popup window, enter the wrestler's name, email, level, weight class, and grade.

The wrestler has been successfully added to your roster. Please note that if you import your roster from TrackWrestling in the future, manually-added wrestlers can be merged with your TrackWrestling roster in the MatBoss system.

Manual Schedule Setup (For Teams Not Using TrackWrestling)

How to manually set up your schedule if your team is not using TrackWrestling.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover how to manually set up your schedule if your team is not using TrackWrestling.

To begin, click on "Scorebook" in the main navigation of your MatBoss dashboard.

From the Scorebook page, click on the "Add Event" link.

On the "Add Event' pop-up, add the name of the opposing team or tournament.

Select the event type.

Choose the event date.

Enter the starting weight.

Select the event level such as Varsity or JV.

Click save to confirm your event details.

Your new event has been added to the scorebook.

Merging Events

How to merge events within the MatBoss system.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, we discuss merging events in the MatBoss system.

To begin, simply access your scorebook, identify the event that you would like to merge with another, and click "Edit" on that event. 

From the Event dropdown menu, select the destination event that you would like to merge your other events into.

Click "Save" to confirm and execute the merge process.

You can see that your selected events have been successfully merged from one event into another.

Moving a Match from One Event to Another

How to move a match from one event to another within the MatBoss platform.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial, you will learn how to move a match from one event to another.

To begin, visit the Scorebook page and click on "Event Details" for the match that you would like to move to another event.

On the "Event Details" page, identify the match that you would like to move, and click "Edit" on that match.

Choose your desired scorebook from the appropriate drop down menu. 

Next, choose the destination event where you would like to move that match to.

Click the "Move" button to execute the event movement.

The match that was moved is no longer listed within the original scorebook location. 

The moved event is now located in the new event location.

Organization Settings

How to manage your organization settings such as checking your invoice status, adding teams, and media contacts.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial we will cover how to confirm and edit your organization settings.

Begin by logging in to your MatBoss account.

Once you're logged in, select the settings button in the upper righthand corner of the screen.

On the Settings page, you can confirm whether or not your payment has been made to MatBoss for the current season. You can view or pay your invoice by clicking the "Access Invoice" button.

Your MatBoss invoice can be paid via check or credit card directly from the electronic invoice.

From the Settings screen once again, click on the "Organization Settings" button.

On the Organization Settings screen, you may add a team that is in your conference or region so it is displayed in bold for convenient review when you generate MatBoss reports for your team.

You can also add media contacts which allow you to quickly email match results to the contacts listed.

In the Team Information section, select if you'd like to restrict your wrestlers to watch only their own videos or if you'd like them to have access to watch their teammates' videos as well.

Use the lead time drop-down menu to set how many seconds prior to each clip you would like the video to play for tagged clips as you mark them in the app.

You can also customize the names of your scorebooks within these organization settings.

Finally, click the "Save Changes" button to confirm your updates. Please note that these changes will be saved on all recording devices connected to your account after the "Perform Sync" button has been clicked on each device. This is also covered in more detail in a separate video.

Recording a Match

How to recording a wrestling match through the MatBoss app.

From the Event screen, touch the "Record Match" button below the event that you are ready to record. 

From the recording interface, touch the camera icon to begin recording the match. Notice that the recording window is outlined in yellow when recording has been activated. To stop recording the video at any time, simply touch the Pause icon below the viewer window. The MatBoss system will keep the entire recording as one file regardless of how many times you pause and start the recording. 

You can change the color of each wrestler by touching the color icon located directly below the team logo.

To score the match, notice that MatBoss only provides scoring symbols based on the position that the wrestlers are in currently. In this example, red scores a takedown as the first scoring event in the match. To record this takedown, touch the T2 button for red.

The available scoring events are now updated within the interface, demonstrating that red is on top and green is on bottom.

At the end of a given period, touch the "next" button located on the left of the recording screen to advance to the next period. Select the choice made by the wrestler in the pop-up window. In this example, red chooses to defer and green chooses bottom. Notice that the scoring events are automatically set for the position of the wrestlers.

After saving the match, you are returned to the Events screen and you are ready to record the next match.

Resetting Your Password

Learn how to recover a forgotten password for your MatBoss account.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial you will learn how to recover a forgotten password for your MatBoss account.

Access the MatBoss account landing page by clicking on the "Log-In" link in the upper righthand corner of matboss.com, or by typing, app dot matboss dot com into the address bar of your web browser.

Locate the "Forgot Password" link below the "Log In" button and click it. Enter the email address associated with your MatBoss account and click submit.

You may use a similar process for resetting your account password through the MatBoss app on a tablet or phone. Simply locate and touch the "Forgot Password" link on the Login screen and follow the prompts to reset your account password. 

Uploading Matches

How to upload recorded matches to the MatBoss system.

Welcome to MatBoss University. In this tutorial you will learn how to upload your recorded matches to the MatBoss system.

After you have completed recording an event, you are now ready to upload your match video and statistics. To begin this process, click on the "Upload" icon at the bottom of the screen.

From the Upload screen, notice that all of your matches that have not been uploaded are listed. Simply touch the "upload" button at the top of the screen to begin the upload process. It is important when performing this step that you are connected to a stable WiFi connection and that your device is plugged into a power source. When a match has successfully completed uploading, you will see a green bar indicating success. MatBoss will continue to upload all matches until the upload queue is empty. If you experience a connectivity issue during the upload process, the match will be highlighted in red as the result of an unsuccessful upload. Verify the stability of your WiFi connection and simply touch the "Try Again" button to restart the upload process.
